Tax Executives Institute Awards Scholarship to OU Accounting Major

Accounting major Melissa Pineda ’16 has been awarded a scholarship from the Tax Executives Institute (TEI), a professional association for tax practitioners that serves its members through education, networking, and advocacy.

Melissa was awarded the scholarship based on recommendations from Oglethorpe accounting faculty, and will be formally recognized at an upcoming meeting of TEI.

A student ambassador, Melissa is active in Oglethorpe’s Rotaract Club, Student Government Association, and Honor Council. She currently works at Pathstone Federal Street, a financial services company in Atlanta.

Tax Executives Institute has nearly 7,000 members and 56 chapters in 28 countries worldwide. Members are chief tax officers, vice presidents, directors, managers, accountants, and other professionals who are responsible for the tax affairs of their companies. TEI members have access to tax training, networking opportunities with fellow tax professionals, and work collectively to improve tax policy and administration.
