Atlanta No. 1 city to live and work as a filmmaker | Atlanta Business Chronicle

Since passing its current film tax incentive in 2008, Georgia has become the No. 3 place for filming in the United States behind Los Angeles and New York. But according to moviemaker.com, Atlanta is the best place to work and live as a filmmaker.

The list was based on the following factors: film production in 2015 (shooting days, number of productions and dollars generated), film community and culture, access to equipment and facilities, tax incentives, cost of living, lifestyle, weather and transportation.

Atlanta ranked No. 1 because of its growing infrastructure and workforce development, tax incentive, thriving music scene, affordable housing, pleasant weather and 132 Waffle House locations. The city has climbed the ranks significantly since last year’s list, when it ranked No. 6 behind Austin, Texas; Los Angeles; Chicago; New York; and San Francisco.
