Google Puts Oglethorpe on the Map

Thanks to Google, anyone can now take a virtual walk along the quad or admire Oglethorpe’s beautiful campus architecture from the comfort of their desktop or on-the-go with their mobile device.

Oglethorpe University Quad

This month, a Google-certified professional photographer from 100 Digital Creativity came to campus and took high-quality 360-degree panoramic photos to create virtual tours of our Academic Quad, along with prime interior and exterior locations on campus, including Weltner Library, the OU Museum of Art, Conant Performing Arts Center and Hermance Stadium.

Google’s impressive technology immerses you into these landmarks in way that’s comparable to actually being there. To experience the new virtual tour, Google one of the locations listed above and look for the “See Inside” option.

You can also explore these exciting new features by searching “Oglethorpe University” on Google Maps, and then picking up and dragging the orange “pegman” (look near the zoom-in feature). When he’s hovered over the Oglethorpe map, orange dots will show up where virtual tours are available.

We are excited that we can now share the beauty of our campus with people all over the world!
