Malika Whitley ’11 among Creative Loafing’s 20 People to Watch

Atlanta’s Creative Loafing named Oglethorpe alumna Malika Whitley ’11 to its 2016 20 People to Watch. Malika is founder of ChopArt, a nonprofit that empowers homeless youth through creative expression and the exploration of art.

“Future Atlanta is dependent on the people who live, work, create, and innovate here, “said Creative Loafing Editor-in-Chief Debbie Michaud. “With 20 People to Watch, we contemplate who will significantly impact the city in the coming year.”

While a student at Oglethorpe, Malika worked for the National Black Arts Festival, interned abroad with the city of Cape Town (South Africa) during the World Cup, and studied abroad in India as part of the 2011 IDEX Fellowship for Social Enterprise.  Read Creative Loafing‘s full story about Malika.
