Dr. Leah Zinner is the recipient of this year’s Lu Thomasson Garrett Award for Meritorious Teaching. Dr. Zinner has been an assistant professor of social psychology at Oglethorpe University since 2008, and was presented the award during the 2011 Oglethorpe University commencement ceremony.

Dr. Zinner received her Ph.D in Social Psychology at the University of Wisconsin, and completed her undergraduate studies at Emory University in Atlanta.

The Lu Thomasson Garrett Award for Meritorious Teaching was established in 1994 through a generous endowment gift to the University from the late Lu Garrett and her husband, David Garrett, Jr.  Mrs. Garrett was an Oglethorpe University alumna, class of 1952, member emerita of the Board of Trustees, and Oglethorpe University honorary degree recipient in 1994. Selection of the winner is made by a committee of students, previous faculty award winners, and alumni.
